Green Party announces Merseyside Police & Crime Commissioner and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Mayor candidates

The Green Party have selected Cllr Amanda Onwuemene as their candidate for Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner, and Cllr Tom Crone as their candidate for Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Mayor.

Amanda is the Green Party’s national spokesperson for Policing and Domestic Violence and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and insight into the role. Amanda acknowledges the recent positive review received by Merseyside Police, but believes there is still a need for more progress on the Service’s approach to policing for women and girls, as well as police relations with vulnerable communities.

As a Green party PCC, she would work with the Chief Constable to ensure the much needed progress in these areas is delivered.

Tom leads the Green Party Group on Liverpool Council, and has ten years experience as a Councillor to draw on. He wants to deliver his vision of a fairer, greener, better Liverpool City Region.

With an expanded home insulation program, training opportunities in the green jobs of the future, and improved public transport and active travel, we can start to tackle poverty and inequality while delivering on our commitments to get to net zero.

These two candidates are committed to working together to stand up for disadvantaged and marginalised people within the city region, and driving forward the Green Economy to deliver a fairer, more democratic, and more positive future for Liverpool City region and Merseyside.
