Green Party announce Merseyside Police and Crime Commssioner Candidate for May 5th

The Green Party will be contesting all three of the elections taking place on 5th May.  Former Liverpool leader of the opposition, John Coyne, has been selected to run as the candidate for Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner.  The Green Party will contest council wards across Merseyside and the current leader of the opposition on Liverpool City Council, Councillor Tom Crone, has already been selected to fight the mayoral election.

John Coyne has opened his campaign with a call to make road safety a key priority for Merseyside Police.  He says that would mean more police activity on traffic enforcement duty and a zero tolerance towards dangerous speeding crimes.

Cllr Tom Crone comments “We need to join up the action between the Council and the police.  The Green Party has pressed for more 20mph speed limits, but we need the police to be ready to take action so that drivers know they need to obey the law and slow down.”
