Vital safety improvements underway after tragic incident

Cllr Madeley on Queens Drive where the improvement works are taking place

Cllr Martyn Madeley has been monitoring the progress of repairs and upgrades to the bridge on Queens Drive where we had the tragic flooding incident earlier in the year.

He is happy to report that work to improve the road surface, flood warning signage and drainage have been completed at the site. We are currently waiting for flood sensors to arrive and to be fitted as well as an improvement of the lighting under the bridge before it can be reopened.

Cllr Martyn Madeley said “I am glad that these works have been undertaken, it is just a shame it took a tragedy for the council to step up and sort out this section of road which has been an issue for years”.

The initial works are set to be complete within 12 weeks, and further works are planned in the medium term. The council would like to thank motorists and residents for their patience and understanding while these vital improvement works are completed.
