Motion to Neighbourhoods Services Select Committee

On next week’s agenda…

Committee notes with concern that an increasing number of premises in residential areas are applying for licences to serve alcohol, hot food etc beyond midnight.

The developing ‘night time economy’ in areas which have traditionally benefited from peace and quiet in the early hours means that more noise, litter and anti-social behaviour is occurring as a result of the late opening times.

Committee requests the Head of Licensing to investigate ways in which residential areas can be protected from additional late night licensed activity and to report back with his findings to a future meeting of the Neighbourhoods Select Committee.
