‘Big Sleepout’ Challenge for Green Councillors

You will have noticed the growing number of homeless people visible on the streets of Liverpool City Region. Recently released government figures showed that the number of homeless households in the UK is at record levels. This is a scandal, and an issue that has been a focus for the Green Party Councillors in recent times.

We have already held a fundraising breakfast, where we raised £210 for the Whitechapel Centre, to support the amazing work they do with the region’s homeless. Our next challenge will be Tom, Anna and Sarah taking part in the “Big Sleepout” on Friday 14th October. This involves sleeping out in the grounds of St Nick’s in the city centre, to raise awareness and funds for the Whitechapel Centre.

We want to raise hundreds of pounds for this great cause. Please go to our fundraising page and make a donation. It can be found here: virginmoneygiving.com/thegreens

£5 will buy a cooked breakfast for 10 rough sleepers. £15 covers an advice session with one of our skilled workers, securing accommodation for someone who would otherwise sleep rough. £25 funds a tutor and materials for a structured training session, giving homeless people essential life skills. Whatever you give will make a big difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

Once again, our fundraising page is virginmoneygiving.com/thegreens

Many thanks

Tom, Anna and Sarah
