Largest Liverpool opposition party welcomes Mayor Anderson’s U-turn on Libraries

The Green Party welcomes Mayor Anderson’s announcement on Radio Merseyside this morning that Liverpool Council will now save all the 11 at risk libraries for the long term. We congratulate all the people who have campaigned for this result. This successful campaign has demonstrated how important local libraries are to the lives of the people in Liverpool’s neighbourhoods.

The Leader of Green Party in Liverpool City Council, Councillor John Coyne says “We will not criticise the Mayor for changing his mind. U-turns are a good thing when this mayor performs them.”

The Green Party await details and confirmation of the announcement at the Council meeting on Wednesday 12th.

The Green Party is the largest opposition party in Liverpool and has been fully involved in the campaign to save the libraries.
